Update: Benito was re-homed in the UK but unfortunately it didn't go to plan. A side came out of Benito never seen before at the center. The adopters didn't feel they were experienced enough to deal with it. We understood the decision and fully support it and appreciated their honesty. Benito was possibly taken out of the center a bit before he was ready (easy to do as he displays confidence all the time) and panicked at people approaching him when being walked on lead. This caused him to lash out. This then became a bit of a coping mechanism, we are not sure how that developed. He's now with a behavourist in the UK and isn’t displaying any of these behavourial traits. However, on re-homing him we must be prepared that a panicked Benito will need an experienced adopter that understands body language and the importance of space, positive reinforcement and having a quiet safe place for him to relax. He absolutely loves people so we were so shocked when this happened. Benito does love the one-on-one attention of being an only dog. He can also be with other dogs as was happily kenneled with shy Choca and Yang. More details will be given to applicants, please only apply to adopt Benito if you do have behavourial insight because we would hate for him to move from pilar to post. Keeping him safe and finding someone that will advocate for him is the priority. Please contact galgosdelsol@hotmail.com
We’ve started calling him Bouncy Benito as he is the first in line for cuddles. He does know how to sit but wants to make sure that he is getting his share of hugs as it is his favorite activity!
Benito went to the eye specialist where an x-ray of his head was taken. Two more bullets/pellets were discovered. One is possibly why he’s likely blind in one eye and the decision has been made not to remove it as it could cause more damage. Thankfully, he is not in pain and the eye pressure is normal. His face was used as target practice and yet he still loves everyone. This little survivor is ready for a home and a lovely sweet life.
Happy poddie boy Benito had been living close by to the Center for some time. He’d been eating inside a neighbours finca so we thought he had an owner until we received a call from them saying that he doesn’t belong to them and has a bad eye. We brought him to the eye specialist and turns out had a bullet under his eye (now removed) and his body was full of them. What is wrong with people? As can be seen in the photos, Bonito is a very sociable little guy and a serious hugger! Please contact us for more information.
